Artist's statement

My work reflects my interest in the natural world. I expand the minutiae of plant and sea life to challenge and dominate the viewer on a human scale. Inspiration comes from snorkelling and scuba diving over coral reefs. The rich patchwork of texture and form seen in the reef, together with the diversity of sea life inform my  sculpture. The characteristics of wild and cultivated plants are also starting points for my work.

I take techniques from Origami and Embroidery and apply them to materials such as roofing felt, aluminium and paper to recreate fluid organic form. The resulting sculpture with strange textures and multifaceted form dominate the space and demand a second look.

I am a Fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and have a degree in Fine Art. My work is shown widely around the country and in the USA.
